Sivakarthikeyan opens up about his personal connection to his role in Amaran ahead of its grand Diwali release

With Diwali just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Amaran, the much-anticipated film starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. The film, which promises an emotional and action-packed story, is set to captivate audiences this festive season. Leading man Sivakarthikeyan recently revealed in a promotional interview the deeply personal reason behind his decision to take on the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan.

During an interaction, Sivakarthikeyan shared that his own father, who served in the police force, was a significant influence in his decision. The actor, who grew up seeing his father in uniform, felt an emotional connection to the role. He explained, “Another reason I took up this project is that I grew up seeing my dad in uniform. He was a cop. The color of the uniform might be different, but the responsibilities are almost the same.”

Sivakarthikeyan elaborated on how the character of Major Mukund Varadarajan reminded him of his father. “When I first heard the story, I noticed many similarities between my father and Mukund Sir. I can’t reveal too many details right now, but yes, this was a big reason for me to be part of this project,” he said. The emotional resonance with the character and his own family’s experience made this project particularly special for the actor.

In a touching revelation, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about how his father had passed away while on duty, not in combat, but due to job-related pressure. Reflecting on the loss, he shared, “When I saw Indhu (Major Mukund Varadarajan’s wife) for the first time with her daughter, I was reminded of my mother and sister. My father also died while on duty—not in a war, but due to job-related pressure. Losing a loved one is the hardest thing to deal with, but seeing Indhu Rebecca Varghese stand strong despite the tragedy brought hope to us all. I can’t wait to show this film to my mother and sister.”

Set to release this Diwali, Amaran is produced by Kamal Haasan, R. Mahendran, and Sony Pictures International Productions. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and featuring Sai Pallavi as Indu Varghese, “Amaran” promises to be a moving cinematic experience with a powerful story at its core.
