New Delhi, April 2, 2026: Indus Towers, one of India’s leading telecom infrastructure providers, today announced the appointment of Venkatesh Tiwari as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective April 1, 2026.
Mr. Tiwari succeeds Tejinder Singh Kalra, who will retire upon attaining superannuation on August 31, 2026. To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Mr. Kalra will continue in his role as COO until June 30, 2026.
As per the company’s regulatory filing, Mr. Kalra will step down from his position as a senior management personnel effective July 1, 2026, and will continue to support the organization until his retirement, facilitating a structured transition process.

Mr. Tiwari brings nearly 28 years of diverse leadership experience spanning e-commerce, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and logistics. He joins Indus Towers from Amazon, where he held several key leadership roles and drove significant business growth.
At Amazon, he led critical verticals including Amazon Now, Seller Fulfilment, and third-party logistics (3PL) channels. He was instrumental in launching quick commerce offerings in India and managing large, cross-functional teams across ultra-fast delivery, grocery operations, same-day delivery, and logistics networks.
Prior to this, Mr. Tiwari played a key role in strengthening middle-mile and last-mile operations within Amazon India, contributing to faster delivery capabilities, broader reach across pin codes, and enhanced customer and seller experience.
Strong Industry Background
Before his tenure at Amazon, Mr. Tiwari held leadership roles at prominent organizations including Samsung, Bharti Airtel, and Perfetti Van Melle. At Airtel, he contributed significantly across operations, customer service management, and sales and marketing functions.
Academic Credentials
Mr. Tiwari holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Communications from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra (1996) and an MBA in Marketing and International Business from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (1998).
