A grand ‘Savitribai Phule Botanical Garden’ conceptualized by Dr. Bharati Lavekar, MLA for Versova Vidhansabha, has been inaugurated by Smt. Amruta Fadnavis. The garden has been developed through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (MHADA). Present at the event were noted personalities such as music director and singer Daboo Malik, actor and producer Shashi Ranjan, actresses Supriya Pilgaonkar and Nivedita Saraf, singer Jaspinder Narula, and entrepreneurs and philanthropists Rakesh Kothari and Vijay Lulla.
This unique ‘Savitribai Phule Botanical Garden’ features the plantation of various medicinal plants, thereby creating an herbal park. Special plants have been grown to attract butterflies, ensuring their continuous presence in the garden. Built on 5 acres of land, the garden’s construction involved experts, and the space has been designed to resemble a natural forest. This distinctive garden has come to life through the dedicated efforts of MLA Dr. Bharati Lavekar and support from the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC).
Speaking about the project, Dr. Bharati Lavekar, MLA for Versova Assembly, stated, “Amidst the concrete jungle of Mumbai, I have brought this environment-friendly gift to the residents of Versova. The garden provides ample space for citizens to stroll and will also benefit the fitness of the local community. If students from different schools visit on field trips, it will instill the importance of the environment in them from a young age.”
MLA Dr. Bharati Lavekar’s eco-conscious initiative for the citizens of Versova is truly commendable.
